Let's get everybody in the mood for the 2012 ELECTIONS.

Hillsborough County Democratic Party in 2012 will focus on Education, Infrastructure, and the Economy.

What do you say?

Craig Latimer, Chief of Staff in the Supervisor of Elections Office hopes to come to explain some of the changes the Legislature is making in Elections Procedures.

We must begin thinking about our role in the Lutz Fourth of July Celebration!   A tradition of the LutzDemocrats!

Bob Keenan, former Vice Chair of HCDEC, and now President of the Northwest Democratic Club will come to speak with us about joining forces.

Florida politics, we all have plenty to talk about with what the legislature is doing.  There is always Governor Scott (Is he as bad as the governor from Wisconsin?)

Personally, I continue my concerns about child welfare:   Are you aware that Florida leads the nation on child deaths due to abuse and neglect? Are you, like me, concerned that while everyone seems to blame the recession for the lack of revenue in Florida  and Hillsborough County, there is a lot of wealth in Florida that is not being taxed because of our regressive tax system. 

While  the federal level is still suffering from the Bush tax cuts, Florida had its own Jeb Bush tax cuts -- we no longer tax intangible wealth of millionaires, billionaires and the super rich in Florida where we have a lot of them (partly because there is no income tax in Florida). 

Meanwhile the Legislature is cutting services for children and families, and cutting mental health and substance abuse services as well.  Hillsborough County is considering privatizing more, which produces false savings, increases fees, and puts more money in the hands of insurance companies.
